My Mum Reacts To Rock!

Hi Guys!
So, I have been posting alot of my opinions on songs, albums etc lately. I wanted to get the opinion of another person on here, plus, I thought it would be flipping hilarious! Today, I will be sharing with you my mum's opinions and reactions to some classic and modern rock songs. Lets get started!
Q: What did you think of the singing?
A: "Not great, a bit too much going on"
Q: What about the guitar playing:
A: "Oh yeah, I like the guitar playing

Q: What would you rate the overall song?
A: "About a 5/10"

Q: How was the singing this time?
A: "Yep, good. I can hear the lyrics and it's easy on the ears"

Q: Any other comments?
A: "I like the backing vocals. I like the beat aswell"

Q: What would you rate this one?
A: "7/10, a bit better than the other one!"

Q: Have you heard this one before?
A: "Yep"

Q: How does this make you feel?
A: "It makes you want to, like, release everything inside you."

Q: What do you think of the singing and the lyrics?
A: "Very expressive, a bit shouty though." "I've overlooked it though, because I like the lyrics"

Q: What would you rate it?
A: "I'd give it a good 8/10"

Q: What do you think of the guitars and drums?
A: "I like the guitars and the bass together"

Q:What about the vocals and lyrics, mum?
A: "Not too screamy, not too overpowering" "The lyrics are meaningful, they make you think"

Q: What would you rate the song?
A: "8.5/10" "Not a massive favourite but it's certainly a good song"

Q: Do you recognise this person?
A: "Frankie?" Yeah "Yes!"

Q: Anything you like or dislike about the song?
A: "I like the tune going through but a bit jumpy tempo-wize"
Q: This song has been in a Disney film, what impact do you think this song has on younger kids watching the film?
A: "I think they might think that people don't care about how they feel and It might make them want to rebel against society and it's not neccesarily a good thing to rebel." "Hate is a very very expressive and graphic word"

Q: Finally, what you rate it?
A: "Even though I find it controversial, and I'm not sure what message it's trying to put out, I would rate it a 9/10" "I might make kids want to share their feelings so that something can be done to help them.

Thanks to my mum for doing this. Have you enjoyed it? "Yeah, I've enjoyed it". Her favourite song I showed her is Would You Still Be There by Of Mice And Men.

Thanks,
So long and goodnight...

Slipknot

Corey Taylor (Vocals) Unmasked
Hi guys!
I have recently gotten into alot heavier bands, especially Slipknot. Before I really got into metalcore, hardcore etc I thought they were a little bit too heavy (too much screaming etc) but now I see past the crazy guitars and belting vocals. When I first showed my friends the video to 'The Devil And I' (Click here to check it out WARNING: MAY BE A BIT DISTURBING) they were a bit shocked to say the least. People are still amazed that I like them when I show them pictures of them in their masks, but they soon get over it...

Slipknot 2014
Nowadays, people aren't so open-minded regarding music. I admit, I'm not going to be jumping out of my seat when a new One Direction album comes out, but I still appreciate their talent. When someone hears a metalcore or heavy metal song, they hear guitars, drums and screaming. What they dont hear is the work and passion that goes into it! Imagine having to seperatley write and record NINE song parts, and write lyrics aswell. These people are devoted to their music.

Especially with Slipknot, people think they are aggressive, bad, cold hearted people. They don't know the half of it. I do see where they might get those feelings from, but, they don't know a thing about the person underneath that mask. All they see is that scary, intimidating face. As for the people who don't find them scary, they think it is a gimmick. It has been said my the band that "We decided to wear masks so that people will only concentrate themselves on our music, not on what we look like". In my opinion, people judge artists too much these days. If I showed someone 'Snuff' by Slipknot, without telling them it was them or showing them what they looked like, they would have a completely different opnion than if I showed them a picture of them or told them who they were listening to first.

I really don't get why society judges alternative subculters so much. If I showed someone what I listened to, without showing the what I looked like or my gender, they would steryotype me into what they think a person who listens to the music I described. I think it's disgraseful! I don't want it to be a rant but, I can't stand stereotypes! Judging people based on intrests is wrong! I find being called a 'mosher' or a 'freakshow' so angering.

Make sure to pay a visit to the Official Slipknot Website. Also, Pick up their new album '.5: The Gray Chapter' becuae it is so rad! RIP Paul Gray.

Review: Black Veil Brides - Goodbye Agony

Hi!
Sorry that I haven't posted for a bit! I have been extra busy with exam revision and school stuff. I will rewrite some posts and post them on the schedule so you will get a post a week in the upcoming weeks. Quick little notice: my internet friend Lewis (aka ThatAkwardMondayShow) has now got a blog! I will link his blog and channel at the end. This week, I will be reviewing the new tune and video by Black Veil Brides! I am so excited to share with you what I think of Biersack And Co.'s new masterpiece!

The Song: I really like the dramatic feel to this song. It reminds me slightly of something my Avenged Sevenfold, but, with the Black Veil Brides twist. They have been given quite alot of stick for it being 'softer' than songs such as Fallen AngelS etc... I think they have made a contrast with this song compared to other songs on the record. It's not my favourite track on the record (The Devil In The Mirror is my fave) but I think it is a really strong tune. It seems to have alot more classic rock influences than hardcore and metalcore. It is different from their older songs, but, they have made a new story with this record. They have moved away from the Set The World On Fire era, but, that doesn't mean it won't be theatrical. If anything, this song demonstartes that fact clearly.

The Video: I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! I am partial to a bit of pyro and this video fulfills my needs for fire! XD The performance scenes are really coll. It doesn't show CC, Jake and Jinxx as much as Andy and Ashley but overall, it is a great video. The story-based scenes seem a little out of place, but, I imagine it references to the movie that I haven't watched yet (could you link me to a place where I can purches/watch it if you know any) but I will probably get those scenes once I watch it.

Thanks for sticking around when I haven't been posting as regularly as usual! If you wanna check out the video, CLICK HERE! Leave you opinions down below if you would like. You can comment without a Google Account.

I LOVE RONNIE RADKE

Hi Guys!
I'm not afraid to say this, I love Ronnie Radke. I know everyone has their own opinions on him, most of them negative, but you can't judge me for supporting him. If you don't judge me for liking him, thank you.

This is a bit of an odd post so far. But, I felt the need to express my opinions on this individual. If you don't like the fact I have a positive attitude towards Ronnie, please do not put yourself through the anger of reading this. It doesn't do anybody any good. For those of you who share my opinion, I think this is the post for you. And for those of you who do not know who the heck I am going on about, the next paragraph is a good place to start.

Who is Ronnie Radke?
Ronnie is the founding member and current frontman of punk band Falling In reverse. He was also one of the founding members of the band Escape The Fate, In May 2006, he was involved in the fatal shooting of Micheal Cook in Las Vegas. Although Ronnie didn't shoot Cook, he was charged with five years of probation for battery and past drug possesion. In June 2008, he failed to report to his probation officer and was charged with four years in jail. Although charged with four years, he was released within two and a half. When he got out (In December 2010) he was officially dismissed from ETP (Escape The Fate). He was replaced by former frontman of Blessthefall, Craig Mabbit. Ronnie then began Falling In Reverse (then called From Behind These Walls). Since then he has made a mixtape (Watch Me) with guests Andy Biersack, Tyler Carter and Danny Worsnop. He still continues with Falling In Reverse and I hope they bring out some new music soon. If you don't already listen to Falling In Reverse, check them out! I reccomend I'm Not A Vampire and Keep Holding On.

Why Does Ronnie Inspire Me?
I think Ronnie inspires me in many ways. As you can see from the paragraph above, his life hasn't been easy and he hasn't always done the right thing. That is one of the things that is amazing: How many times he has been knocked down, yet he still gets back up and keeps fighting. I don't care whether others think he is a bad role model, I think he is pretty damn amazing. I know he has done  some bad things (taken drugs etc) he has gotten past them. He is now completely sober and clean of drugs. He has shook of the things and people holding him down, now he can get to his goals and be around the people who deserve his company.

Comment below with who inspires you and why. If you like this post, share it! If you have any queries or suggestions, leave them down below and I will reply ASAP.

My Opinions - Band Fanfiction

Hi Guys!
In the most recent Kerrang issue (1542), they did a feature on band fanfiction. It showed multiple opinions of fanfiction from popular band members such as Frank Iero and Chris Motienless (DISCLAIMER: THE ONLY KNOWLEDGE I HAVE OF EVENTS IN FANFlCTION IS FROM PART READING ONE FOR THIS POST). So, lets get started!

What Is Band Fanfiction
Band fanfiction is a genre of creative writing that usually contains two band members in a relationship that the writers 'ship'. A 'ship' is when you desire a pair of people or characters to be in a relationship. Popular ships include 'Jalex' (Jack Barakat and Alex Gaskarth, right) and 'Frerard' (Frank Iero and Gerard Way, left)

My Opinions
Personally, I think it's more for the fanbase to read rather than the band or artist themself. That happening would be slightly akward for the writers and readers. I findsome events in the stories to be misleading for some people (not me) because they may think the relationships, arguments and affairs etc... are actually happening. We have to remind ourselves it is just as a story. If anything, it encourages teenagers to read! I do understand some fanfics are graphic and may be unsuitable for younger and more inapropriate audiences, but, it's all fake at the end of the day! Problems pretty much only start when readers start to believe what they read.

I know this was a shorter post than usual but I am really busy at the moment and just wanted to keep you guys up to date. If you want to, leave your opinions on fanfiction down in the comments.

Review of Bring Me The Horizon's 'Drown'

Hi Guys!
I have been listening to alot of Bring Me The Horizon lately and I have began to really like them. I also heard about all the commotion concerning one of their most recent songs, Drown. Turns out, I really like it! In this post, I will be reviewing it for you. Click HERE to watch it on youtube, maybe even leave your opinions in the comments below!

On my first listen, I noticed it to be alot softer than tracks like 'Sleepwalking' and 'Shadow Moses' but still with as much impact lyrically. Oli always adds alot of character into his voice when he sings. That is what I really like about this song, it showcases his vocal talents alot more than the heavier tracks (which I also love).

Lyrically, this song is a really strong piece. Metaphors and similies are frequently used, making it more relatable to a wider audience. I think my favourite line from this song is actually in the chorus. It is 'Who will fix me now? dive in when I'm down, save me from myself, dont let me drown'. I think that line is an excellent, catchy chorus lyric because it pretty much sums up the whole context of the song.

I am really into this 'new' sound as much as I like their 'old' sound. Even though it isn't as heavy, it really shows off the aptitude of the band as a unit. I really think Matt's (Nicholls, drums) expertise are perfectly displayed in this song. There is a really strong drum beat, a signature feature of a BMTH (Bring Me The Horizon) song. Songs like 'Go To Hell, For Heaven's Sake' also show this to be true.

But I want to hear what YOU think! Tell me your opinions on this song in the comments below!

So long and goodnight,
Liv
