In the most recent Kerrang issue (1542), they did a feature on band fanfiction. It showed multiple opinions of fanfiction from popular band members such as Frank Iero and Chris Motienless (DISCLAIMER: THE ONLY KNOWLEDGE I HAVE OF EVENTS IN FANFlCTION IS FROM PART READING ONE FOR THIS POST). What Is Band Fanfiction
Band fanfiction is a genre of creative writing that usually contains two band members in a relationship that the writers 'ship'. A 'ship' is when you desire a pair of people or characters to be in a relationship. Popular ships include 'Jalex' (Jack Barakat and Alex Gaskarth, right) and 'Frerard' (Frank Iero and Gerard Way, left)
My Opinions
Personally, I think it's more for the fanbase to read rather than the band or artist themself. That happening would be slightly akward for the writers and readers. I findsome events in the stories to be misleading for some people (not me) because they may think the relationships, arguments and affairs etc... are actually happening. We have to remind ourselves it is just as a story. If anything, it encourages teenagers to read! I do understand some fanfics are graphic and may be unsuitable for younger and more inapropriate audiences, but, it's all fake at the end of the day! Problems pretty much only start when readers start to believe what they read.
